Counting Down to GivingTuesday 2025

A group of people standing in a circle talking.

One of the biggest giving days of the year is just a few weeks away, and there’s still time to get your organization ready to rally your community. GivingTuesday has become one of the highest performing digital fundraising days for nonprofits, schools and faith groups. If you’re planning a GivingTuesday 2025 campaign, here are a few last-minute tips to increase your impact.

What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday is designated as the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, calling on humanity to extend their generosity to the causes it cares most about. Created in 2012, it has launched a global movement for people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity and gratitude.

With last year’s GivingTuesday producing a record-breaking year of $3.6 million dollars raised, GivingTuesday 2025 is predicted to rise even higher.

Go Raise Dough’s Tips for A Successful GivingTuesday 2025

1. Set a Clear Goal

Whether you want to raise funds for a specific facility project, rally your alumni or boost awareness, set a clear and measurable goal. Establishing a benchmark early on will keep you on pace to achieve your goal and keep your fundraising team motivated before and on GivingTuesday.

Here are a few GivingTuesday goal ideas to get you started:

  • Double existing alumni participation in GivingTuesday 2025
  • Capture X% of new donors to your organization
  • See a X% increase in repeat donors
  • Increase annual giving program by X%
  • Grow social media followers by X%
  • Earn X monthly newsletter signups

2. Generate Excitement Early

GivingTuesday does not have to happen on the one day. Turn the traditional one day of giving into a multi-day event by spanning your giving campaign over a few weeks leading up to GivingTuesday 2025.

Start introducing your participation in GivingTuesday on social media or through a targeted email campaign. From there, you can continually ramp up communications through the big day. In addition, if you plan to run a Go Raise Dough online raffle, you can set your deadline to go through the end of the year to increase your end-of-year-giving potential.

3. Leverage Your Community

Lean on board members, volunteers or a select group of alumni representatives to increase excitement among their peers. If any of them have interest in helping with social media growth, allow them to share their skills with you. If they have large networks, leverage them by providing them with fundraising materials to share with corporate partners or alumni contacts.

Utilizing your community will help you generate excitement and get your GivingTuesday campaign in front of more eyes.

4. Create Compelling Content

While many organizations create GivingTuesday campaigns, your unique content is a superpower that can increase visibility. Planning engaging content that both captures attention and connects your mission to your audience will encourage participation — but it’s easier said than done.

In today’s competitive digital marketing landscape, highlighting your specific programs, stories and needs will resonate more with your community during a GivingTuesday campaign. For example, if your organization is in the medical field, sharing success stories through short videos on social media may have a stronger impact than a single graphic.

Here are a few GivingTuesday content ideas you can use to ramp up your campaign’s success.

  • Create a designated GivingTuesday 2025 landing page to funnel your prospective donors to.
  • Update a real-time thermometer graphic on social media throughout GivingTuesday to show progress.
  • Gather testimonials to use in social media graphics and enhance your storytelling.
  • Create a short video series to use across social media platforms.
  • Give your audience an incentive to share content with their networks.
  • Build a GivingTuesday brand toolkit that key community members can use to spread the word. This may include logos, social media templates, profile frames, email content to send and more.

5. Include an Incentive

Offering an incentive is a powerful way to motivate supporters and encourage them to give to your campaign. Whether it’s a matching gift, exclusive item with donation or special recognition on your social media platforms, incentivizing your GivingTuesday campaign generates excitement and even a sense of urgency.

For example, your organization can drum up excitement by offering an exclusive item with a donation for a limited time. Enticing incentives may be an engraved water bottle, specialty branded merchandise or access to an event or game.

6. Stay Active on GivingTuesday and Beyond

With all your prepwork complete, it’s important to stay active throughout GivingTuesday. Sharing real-time updates, celebrating milestones achieved and publicly recognizing contributions will keep your community engaged. And, the activity doesn’t end after the day is done!

When GivingTuesday 2025 ends, be sure to post a thank you message on social media, directly thank supporters via email or printed mail, and share the impact of your community’s donations. It is also a great opportunity to encourage additional year-end giving by either extending the campaign for a few extra days or offering a new incentive for a gift before December 31.
